Unequally Yoked: Uncovering the Realities of Domestic Violence and Toxic Relationships
On December 30, 2021, host Jodie Smith's cousin Jevaun Mulai tragically lost his life to intimate partner violence. This episode of The Heart Helper Podcast honors Jevaun’s memory by shedding light on the often-hidden issue of domestic abuse. According to Break the Cycle, 32 people in the U.S. experience intimate partner violence every minute, impacting more than 16 million people annually, with nearly 1 in 2 women and over 2 in 5 men affected in their lifetimes.
In Episode 33, we take on the complexities of domestic violence, especially in “unequally yoked” relationships, delving into what the Bible says about toxic partnerships through passages in Proverbs and 1 Samuel, Chapter 2. Join us as we bring awareness to this critical issue, with a special focus on the experiences of male victims of abuse, a side of the story that’s too often overlooked.
